The twelve steps
Follow the method from question to briefing. Each stage leaves a record you can inspect, so the research and evidence remain visible throughout.
Choose the company, set the as-of date and the evidence window, and ask your strategic question. A Company File is created for you if one does not exist yet.
Example question
“Is Halden Materials preparing to make acquisitions?”
Your question is converted into hypotheses and a plan of research tasks and sources. This is your main intervention: remove what you do not want investigated, sharpen questions, add hypotheses of your own.
You review the plan before anything is researched.
PolyMentIQ researches filings, annual reports, investor presentations, transcripts, the company’s own website and the open web. You can leave and come back; the work continues.
Nothing is researched until you approve the plan.
Relevant passages are extracted from documents, web pages, transcripts and filings. Each item carries its source, its location in the document and the exact passage.
Source, location and exact wording — on every item.
Extracted passages are matched against the stored source text to check for identical wording where possible. A quotation that fails verification is excluded from supporting evidence and remains visible in the research record.
Verified, dated and logged. Undated items are flagged.
Independent support is looked for across multiple sources, domains and tiers of quality. The same statement repeated in five places is still one statement.
Not repetition — genuine independent evidence counts.
PolyMentIQ actively searches for evidence that contradicts the emerging view and surfaces it alongside the evidence that supports it.
Contradictions are shown — not hidden.
Each hypothesis in the plan is tested against all the evidence gathered and receives a verdict.
Strategic signals are derived from the evidence and graded by fixed rules — source tier, independence, timing and consistency — not by opinion.
Connections between signals and evidence are mapped in a graph that shows support, overlap and conflict at a glance.
You see how everything relates — in one view.
All dated evidence is ordered chronologically, newest first, so you can see how the story evolved and what changed since the last analysis.
Context changes everything.
When the analysis is ready for synthesis it waits for you. Then a memo is produced with the key signals, hypothesis verdicts, timeline, sources and open questions — exportable, with the disclaimer on its last page.
Every claim is numbered and linked to evidence.
